Return to Monkey Island is a welcomed addition to the series, with series creator Ron Gilbert at the helm, offering a continuation of the classic adventure games The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.
It has been a considerable amount of time since Guybrush Threepwood last faced off with his adversary, the zombie pirate LeChuck. Longtime love interest Elaine Marley has shifted her attention from governing, leaving Guybrush feeling adrift and unaccomplished as he still searches for the Secret of Monkey Island. The changing tides of leadership on Melee Island by youthful pirate figures, headed by Captain Madison, bring disruption, while even famed merchant Stan finds himself imprisoned for ‘marketing-related crimes’.
Reconnect with familiar characters and encounter new personalities in a world where the once-safe islands are now under perilous new rule. Set sail into uncharted waters to navigate through challenging predicaments. The path to victory for Guybrush lies in solving cunning puzzles, navigating peculiar situations, and delivering sharp comebacks.
Return to Point & Click Swashbuckling Enabling modern-day pirates to relish classic point-and-click gameplay, players will immerse themselves in unravelling puzzles and exploring the islands with an updated take on conventional adventure game controls. Context-sensitive interactions, responsive dialog trees, and a user-friendly inventory system streamline the pirating experience.
Embark on Archipelago Adventures Venture beyond the familiar grounds of Melee Island, now subject to unfamiliar management exerting pressure on both old acquaintances and fresh faces. Journey to unexplored terrains like the fittingly named Terror Island and the cold outposts of Brrr Muda to establish alliances and rivalries alike.
Created by a Legendary Crew This new installment in the Monkey Island series reunites legendary figures such as the franchise creator Ron Gilbert, along with game co-writer Dave Grossman, art director Rex Crowle (known for Knights & Bikes and Tearaway), and the renowned composers Peter McConnell, Michael Land, and Clint Bajakian (recognized for their work on Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge).
